Why are people mean to me?

I've pretty much given up trying to talk to people as it seems they only want to be jerks to me for whatever reason.

People say "oh, you just gotta talk to people! Be friendly." Well I've done that and everytime I get figuratively spit on and dirt kicked in my face.

It doesn't matter who it is; family, acquaintances, etc.

I've yet to encounter someone who wants to talk to me and be cordial, nice, friendly...whatever the hell you wanna call it.

I don't know what it is I do but people don't like it. I guess I trigger some sort of hidden implant in their brain that tells them "this person is an undesirable. Treat him with the utmost disrespect. It will please your master."

I've tried everything I could over the past 10 years and it didn't work. I just don't really care anymore about wanting to interact with another human being. I guess online is okay...for now...

I barely even want to do that these days...

I know how you feel because im the same. I compare myself to people all the time like why do I get treated so differently from them.... at the same time there isn't much we can do either like I think therapy tablets can only do so much because it wont change the peoplw we are around on a daily basis. I would still try to interact with people even if its only online its something....

In my personal opinion a lot of people are just naturally mean, in person and online. You have no choice but to move on. There's been many times when I've been called an idiot, called ignorant, been threatened with violence or even had them say they will kill my parents, just for saying how I feel about something.

These people must be treated with contempt, except in the real world, where you just do your best to avoid them.

I often recall getting rude or passive aggressive comments handed to me, not just here but in real life as well, when stirring the pot of that kind of atmosphere was not at all my intention. It easily makes me feel like I have a hard time filtering what I have to say. One distinction I notice is that it happens on this site far more often than anywhere else, and I can sort of understand why. People are going through their own problems here. They're frustrated, they need an outlet to vent, and sometimes they lash out against those who don't ask for it.

Gotta ask yourself these questions.

I had the same idea as a youth. You have to realize that there is only one consistency in these interactions. That is you. I realize my problems stem from the fact that I am an anti-social jerk that sometimes has huge ego trips and who can also sometimes be moody and condescending. People who react poorly to my interactions are people who do not want to know more about me. They don't want to give me a chance. Why focus on them.

Decide at this point if it is worth changing just to interact with these people. If not, then who cares. If so, then look within yourself and honestly try to find how you could possibly improve as a person - that means pointing out your own weaknesses. The way most people convey themselves on this section of the forum is for the most part offensive to me. The way people act on here offend my values and efforts to improve. Maybe these people look at you and think the same thing. People react when their values are challenged. I at that point try to understand and help those people grow because I will also grow in the process. I think that "normal" people for the most part try to avoid their values being challenged.

You seem to be sabotaging yourself in ways out of your control in your communication. Try getting more in touch with yourself to figure out exactly why you keep coming off in whatever negative way you're coming off.

Meditation perhaps?

I love your sig quote btw. You have an eye for good quotes.

This happens to everyone. Yes, this also happens to anyone who's not being friendly towards you. Don't be a people pleaser. You don't like everyone and not everyone likes you and that's okay. I'm sure not everyone is going to treat you poorly. It's hard to find respectful people out there, but they are out there. These things take time. People rush into joining a group of people who end up either being bullies or a bad influence towards the joiner. We make mistakes and we learn from them.

Same with me bro, you know what to do, fu** people, if someone is mean to you, you just give him some hard sh** to hear, don't expect sympathy from these kind of jerks

It seems nowadays people take offence to kindness and see it as weakness. I myself, see that as weakness in others. Who's behind it.. Did someone **** their life up and now they take it out on others? I just don't know.

Be true to you, defend yourself against these morons.

I mostly experience mean people. To be fair, I do look a bit stern/serious but I am polite/civil. I think some people are jealous of peaceful looking people and so they want to get a reaction from you. I devised an excellent technique to deal with this.

Just avoid them but be polite all the time, forever. It winds them up and they look ready to die of frustration. You also find that when you're alone you giggle at their expense. :)

I am into same situation...
The problem is that you are expecting friendly behavior from other people just because you are friendly with them,
Your expectation is too much...

The solution to this is
1. to FAKE your behaviour
2. do not expect anything from people and talk with them

Dont give up trying to talk people, this will make your life monotonous

Even if you are sad from inside SMILE and talk with people around,
Make fake friends and act fake with them,
You initiate interaction with them for a fake reason
