I'm 21 years old and have been on paxil for 3 years now for my severe social anxiety which caused me to gain 8 pounds that no matter how much I tried I could never lose. I plan to ask my doctor about switching to another antidepressant that won't make me gain. I would like to try Zoloft instead since I heard some people say that they had almost no weight problems with. I'm curious to know your experiences, which antidepressant didn't interfere with your weight?

idk but lexapro gave me very strong cravings for sweets. i lost a bunch of weigh w/ prozac and effexor but they made me more manic-like than other others one too. I stopped Citalopram weeks ago but haven't been able to lose weight since i stopped it and im so hungry

Oh i think i've heard paxil causes the most weight gain

I have a friend who takes Zoloft for about a month now and he hasn't gained weight. I take Wellbutrin and haven't gained weight, I've actually lost a tiny bit but I have been making an effort to be active as well. My DR said some docs are writing Welly for off-scrip purposes such as weight loss and cessation of smoking or gambling. I'm not a smoker (or gambler) so I can't tell you about those effects.

Of the 6? SSRI we have, Zoloft/sertraline and Prozac/fluoxetine are most weight neutral...

Paxil though is the most effect SSRI on Anxiety, and the 2drugs i mentioned can have less effect on that, Zoloft however is amongs the weirdest meds i tried...
I was half napping in the sofa had one arm haning down, a spider crawled of the back of my palm, i like grabbed it and let it free on the back...

Normaly i hate insects and would like freak out... And kill it... So the drug deffenently does something to ones brain...

Paxil however was not for me the most effective on Anxiety... So everone works differently.

I've tried 6 of the 7 SSRIs on the market and I've found all to be weight neutral personally.

If you want an AD that absolutely positively will not cause weight gain then go with Wellbutrin. The maker tried to get it approved by the FDA as a weight loss drug, though the FDA denied their application on the grounds that it doesn't do enough to qualify as a weight loss pill. It has a very mild appetite suppressant effect.

Parnate isn't known for causing weight gain, though I very much doubt that you're at the point of trying MAOIs yet (even if they are the most effective ADs on Earth).

We have Edronax/Reboxetine here in Eu from Pfizer don't know why it didn't get approved or registered in US, Although Strattera/Atomexeite is and works basicly similuar.
It is a strong inhibithor on Na and NET/NAT, and works on TYR30, so combined with MAOi it inhibithts tyramine from its release actions on Amines...

Wellbutrin have some effect on DA inhibition like 10-15% (From Stahls book 2013)But the question is if that has any therapheutical effects....
However i don't discurange anyone from trying Wellbutrin... It's been used alot, by alot of people. And the seizure risk seems to be lowered, proably to "slow release" pills, or lowered recommended dosage...
