Hi everyone,
I've been reading the posts on here for quite some time, but this is my first time posting. It is such a relief to know that there are other people out there going through the same crap I am. Along with having severe social anxiety disorder I have also been blessed with GAD, ADD, and depression.
I am 23 years old and just recently began seeking help for my problems. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. After years of drowning myself in alcohol just to function somewhat normally in life, I decided I needed to make a change or I wouldn't live to see 30. I have tried several medications in the last 6 months, and so far Xanax seems to be the only one that helps. I started on Celexa and Klonopin. The Klonopin made me very drowsy and didn't help much with the Social Anxiety. Then I switched to Paxil and Xanax. The Paxil made me feel worse, but the Xanax was truly a miracle. My pdoc decided to put me on a daily cocktail of Zoloft 200 mg, Buspirone 60mg, and Xanax XR 1mg. I have recently weened off the Xanax because I am starting a psychostimulant soon to treat my ADD. So far the Zoloft and Buspirone combination seem to be keeping my anxiety levels down. I am hoping to get Adderall because I have heard many great things about it on this forum. It would be nice to maybe kill two birds with one stone so I can quit taking so many pills everyday. So to all of you fellow SA sufferers, just hang in there, things will get better.
