Meant to say feel like fainting. I often experience this a lot. Then have to get something quick to eat.

Curious if it's common

Not only I have felt like, I have! Several times, there was a year when I was dieting I had the paramedics like once a month in my house, I even used to sleep dressed, just in case someone had to drive me to the hospital if I didn't waked up alone (I normally fainted during mornings).

Test your sugar blood, test your insulin levels, ask for pre and postpandriall test, ask for the sugar/insulin curve test, if results are good, repeat them, if possible buy a glucose meter, it took me many tests and many years to get real results, but I bought a glucose meter and learned myself what the labs weren't telling me and that's how I could share with my doctors more realistic information (despite they are not 100% accurate) but I was taking the blood example when I was feeling the symptoms and not when I had an order to go to a lab to test my blood.

I passed out once after a workout. I hadn't eaten all day and did some weights. Then I decided to do cardio on the treadmill. Bad plan. When I started feeling woozy I went out into the hall to get a soda - but I didn't have change and my bills were too wrinkled to be taken by the vending machine. So I just went outside into the cool air and passed out on a bench. It didn't last long - I came to in a few minutes.

Most likely it is low blood sugar. You should buy a pack of glucose tablets and carry them around with you. If you start feeling like that you should take some immediately.

The thing about it is that if you start feeling like you're going to faint, you probably ARE going to faint relatively soon. Our bodies warn us about such things but they usually don't give us a lot of time. You would be surprised how fast you can faint. And if it's low blood sugar one of the problems that goes along with it is deep confusion so you have to act fast or you will have trouble doing the simplest thing like opening a bottle.

You might be hypoglycemic, my step mom is and fainted at work after skipping her lunch. I know another girl who is too.

I don't feel faint but I get really nauseous if I don't eat, I actually start gagging and heaving if I go too long without eating.

edit: I guess feeling nauseous is just another sign of hypoglycemia.

I'm a ex-competitive swimmer and had an interesting experience with getting dizzy/nearly fainting, which correlated to low blood sugar. Carbs are a form of sugar. One time I was swimming up to 4 miles on a nearly daily basis while on a low carb diet, and -boom!- after workouts I'd feel dizzy. I found that eating more carbs (bread, etc) quickly took care of the problem and it never came back.

So if you're not diabetic and you're on a low carb diet, increasing your intake of carbs (particularly complex carbs) can do wonders.

The other thing that can also cause dizziness/nearly fainting is low blood pressure. So you could check that too.

Yep! It sucks but it happens to me whenever I don't eat, or if it's been too long in between meals. I get really lightheaded/weak and feel like I'm going to pass out. (I never have though.)
I'm pretty sure it's normal though. Your body does need food to function, after all.
