I just started 25mg clomipramine for my anxiety, it seems to work I already feel a huge anxiety reduction . It is only day one , I expect it to get better and im shooting for 100mg a day.
Is anyone else on this drug or have been for anxiety?

Keep us posted, bro.
What about side effects?

I am also eager to try Clomipramine!

I feel a bit tired , harder to pee and maybe little sexual dysfunction. I don't mind the side effects becuase the drug definitely improved my mood . Way stronger than Nardil .

Good to hear.
Did your doc prescribe it to you without hesitation?

I got it prescribed for OCD , usually you get SSRI first but I had already tried a bunch of them so I asked for this which is a last line and supposedly very good for OCD. I got it easily.

day 2: I just woke up and have more energy, anxiety lessened alot, mood is lifted. I feel pretty good, motivated and happiness. I usually wake up sad and tired. Might take my dosage at night so the side effects won't bother me during the day , becuase I have more energy but im kind of sleepy dunno if that even makes sense.

I tried a TCA before (amitriptyline). Didn't help much. Clomipramine seems to be effective for OCD but not really for SAD. TCA's are known to make pleople sleepy. The best drug for SAD remains paroxetine (Phenelzine might be superior, but way to many side effects and risks involved).

I'm happy it is working for you :)

funny most of those drugs on the cart didn't work for my SA:

All the SSRI/SNRI
buspar, agomelatine, seroquel, mirtazapine, hydroxyzine ,viibryd,Nardil, lyrica etc did not work

even klonopin didn't work for some weird reason, but valium did and xanax and I think (not sure can't recall) lorazepam.
Zyprexa was the second best medication, clomipramine N1 for SA.

thats why I stopped going by studies becuase im so different from everyone else.

You are right about clomipramine being the most powerful SSRI. The second one would be paroxetine.
But TCA's have many side effects compared to SSRI of the newest generation. Weight gain, heart arrhythmia, sleepiness etc. Many Dr are not willing to prescribe them because of all this. When I was in university, they would tell us TCA's are superior for treating depression than SSRI of the second generation but are only to be used as a last resort or for serious cases. So no wonder there are so little studies on TCA's for social anxiety.

That is amazing. Thanks for sharing. I'd imagine it would be stronger than Paroxetine but similar in some ways. 25mg to 100mg is significant, keep us updated because I'm gonna try it and ask my pdoc, I think I need just a small dose.

The side effects may be bad but the pros may outweigh the cons. If you're really saying Nardil didn't work but this does than we got something.

lol you haven't tried clomipramine yet? it is one of the strongest meds i've tried, you can really feel you are on something. It is way stronger than ssri's. But yeah my anxiety has reduced drastically, Im like 1 week in gonna up the dose to 50mg. My mood is also way better(happy) dunno if it is cause my anxiety reduced or becuase it increases serotonin, i guess both. Tiredness seem to have gone away but I think it will come back again once I up it to 50mg.

I up the dose every week by 25mg,so im at 50mg now. next week 75mg then 100mg which is my goal.
only side effects I have is being tired everytime I up the dose but it goes away, a little sexual dysfunction and harder to pee but nothing serious.

From what I have read Clomipramine is pretty much weight-neutral with a small tendency for weight gain... so yeah, probably the Clomipramine ^^

is there really no1 else on this forum that has experience with this drug? I have already read all the threads about clomipramine there are very few of them compared to other drugs but it works so great for anxiety! It deserves more recognition for SA.

I think it is day 8: I was out in public a lot of people around and I wasn't anxious at all, which was a surprise. I could be in the middle and everyone looking at me and I still didn't care. it is like my brain doesn't understand anxiety or can't feel it.

I'm curious, did it also cause dilated pupils? It has muscarinic effects that are greater than Paroxetine.

Clomipramine comes with an increased risk of seizures, so does Bupropion. In combination....

I met a guy that was on clomipramine+wellbutrin and adderall at the same time, im assuming it is relatively safe if you stay within the normal dosages. Seizures probaly happens once you overdose and or is very rare .

anyhow im feeling better than ever on Clomipramine, the side effects got more intense from 25 to 50mg but they are better now.

I am glad for you :)

So my pro-Clomipramine-propaganda for once accomplished something good... :teeth

#33 ·
Do you have any chest pain, heart burning or tremor?
What about sweating?

#36 ·
how so?

(maybe 75mg is enough & optimal for you? There are some clues that Clomipramine is being overdosed in general!)

#43 ·
Soon 4 weeks , im on 100mg and that was my goal and I feel pretty stable now. Side effects are minimal and I feel a ton better. I hope it doesen't stop working, I have heard stories of people being on meds and its working great and then suddenly it stops working, Maybe it has to do with generic vs brand...

Did you experience apathy and anhedonia while being on SSRIs? ("SSRI Zombie Syndrome"). On what SSRIs were you on and how strong was the Zombie-effect?

If so, do you experience anhedonia and apathy on Clomipramine? (and how is it in comparison to SSRIs?)
