I have a doctors appointment coming up and i was wondering if any one of you has found any link between your health , and any disorder that you have. I've been having alot of bouts with really bad depression and it seems to be in correlation with my health in some way..
I'm hoping they'll find a connection because really, positive thinking or anything else, even excercise hasn't helped it, and i've just been feeling really really badly lately..hoping to hear some stories. :thanks

I have poor health and I'm depressed. But I wouldn't label my health as the sole reason for my depression, there are many reasons, SA etc. I'm currently on meds and taking therapy so hopefully I can beat this depression despite my health.

I'm not sure if this is directly related to what you are asking, but I thought I'ld give it a try.

I think my depression and SA is affecting my health, not the other way around. I just did some research on this yesterday. Ever since starting school and my family moving from our last place of residence of over 13 years, i've found that I have started to break out in rashes and bumps all over my body and I had to see a doctor about it. I've also noticed that when I am in such a high state of stress and depression, weight just starts to melt off of my body even when my diet stays the same.

If I have bad acne it will take a giant crap on my mood. Sometimes acne is not just embarrassing but physically painful, like if you get a spot near your mouth and it's actually painful to smile. Kind of hard not to let that affect me.

Colds, flus, allergies etc all influence my mood and my anxiety levels. Asthma too, if I feel asthmatic it will increase my anxiety. Then there's the whole connection between stress and mood.

I've had some physical health problems that are probably related to my mental health over the years.

One notable recent example: I suffered an 18 month bout of abacterial prostatitis & epididymitis that finally ended about a year ago. I had to go through several painful examinations and ineffectual (and inappropriate, in some cases) treatments- agonizing DREs, a cystoscopy, powerful antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory, and even a hormonal drug!

Finally, a second urologist made the determination that it was caused by anxiety/stress-related urinary retention. I guess I sort of self-biofeedbacked it out of existence, and I've been symptom free ever since.
