Only 7 months until "Where the Wild Things Are"
by Armchair Commentary at 5:37 PM PDT, March 18, 2009

I think this may be the movie I am most excited to see in 2009. Let me list everything that is amazing about this production:

1. Based on a classic and universally beloved children's book.
2. Directed by Spike Jonze, incredibly talented director of Being John Malkovich and Adaptation.
3. Written by Dave Eggers (!) - author of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, founder of McSweeney's and all around literary force-to-be-reckoned-with.
4. The creatures are actors (including Forest Whitaker, Paul Dano, Catherine Keener, James Gandolfini and Lauren Ambrose) in 6-8 foot tall costumes, created by The Jim Henson Company (those responsible for the Muppets and Labyrinth creatures).

Supposedly we can expect to see this on the big screen October 16th, 2009. Sadly no trailer yet, but here are some stills from the film (Click for larger image). I was already looking forward to this - I am now literally counting down the days. ---Kira

Yeah, I am incredibly excited to see this. I loved the book as a kid, and Spike Jonze is probably one of my favorite working directors.

Hmm there is a Metallica song by that name too. I wonder if it was inspired by the book. Does the discription below of the song sound like the book?

The subject matter:
Is about how screwed up the world is today and how today's youth should not just lay down and give up and that they should fight for what they want.
