"I know it's over" is one of my favorite songs ever. A while ago, I downloaded a fantastic demo version of that song by jeff buckley (not the live hallelujah version), and I prefer to listen to that version over the original since I really don't care for morrissey's voice. "There is a light that never goes out" is my other favorite. Typical pick I guess. I always thought it would make a great boy-girl duet.

My favourites: Cemetry Gates, Frankly Mr. Shankly, Heaven knows I'm miserable, I know it's over, Ask. Oh, and Panic....and Half a Person. What Difference Does It Make is also a favourite, mainly because I really like that guitar riff. I <3 les Smiths.

I haven't heard that much of Morrissey's stuff. Someone reccommended "Your Arsenal" to me but I have yet to pick it up.

Ah... the Smiths :)

There were a lot of great songs, but one I remember was the one where he sings:

"There's a club if you'd like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home and you cry and you want to die.

...

Then you say it's gonna happen now
Well, when exactly do you mean?
But I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone"

That's 'How Soon is Now?' Probably one of the bigger songs of the eighties....

I love 'Why don't you find out for yourself', my e mail address is even taken from it. The lyrics to that song are fantastic.

'I Know It's Over' too. The lyrics to that song are the best ever written I think.

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
And as I climb into an empty bed
Oh well. Enough said.

I know it's over - still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Oh ...
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
See, the sea wants to take me
The knife wants to slit me
Do you think you can help me ?

Sad veiled bride, please be happy
Handsome groom, give her room
Loud, loutish lover, treat her kindly
(Though she needs you
More than she loves you)

And I know it's over - still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Over and over and over and over
Over and over, la ...
I know it's over
And it never really began
But in my heart it was so real
And you even spoke to me, and said :
"If you're so funny
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
And if you're so clever
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
If you're so very entertaining
Then why are you on your own tonight ?
If you're so very good-looking
Why do you sleep alone tonight ?
I know ...
'Cause tonight is just like any other night
That's why you're on your own tonight
With your triumphs and your charms
While they're in each other's arms..."

It's so easy to laugh
It's so easy to hate
It takes strength to be gentle and kind
Over, over, over, over
It's so easy to laugh
It's so easy to hate
It takes guts to be gentle and kind
Over, over

Love is Natural and Real
But not for you, my love
Not tonight, my love
Love is Natural and Real
But not for such as you and I, my love

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my ...
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can even feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my ...

Top 5 favourite Morrissey songs...

My favourite Smiths album right now is The Queen is Dead and my favourite Morrissey album is Maladjusted.
I went off them for ages but have been listening to all the albums again recently. Wonderful songs. :)

Haven't listened to the Smith thoroughly yet but here are some of my favorite songs from them.

Boy with a Thorn on his Side
    Girlfriend in a Coma

I might be missing a few more songs...

I'm not similar with Morrisey's solo materials so I can't list those.

Not a big fan of most of their songs. "How Soon is Now" is great though. It is one of the songs that helped me get thru some very rough times in the early 90s.
