I think one important factor in getting a firm grasp on SA would be to identify what the cause and nature of your SA is.

For me, my SA developed from quietness and self isolation and insufficient support after childhood abuse. Also, a harassment incident in school further pushed me into SA. The nature of my SA involved constant worrying of what others are saying and thinking about me, and not being able to understand why people treat others unfairly with disrespect with the intention of hurting them. From that I've learned to identify which of my thoughts are true and which are just stemming from my own subjective worries and pre-judgements.

If you would like to share, what is the cause and nature of your SA? Any thoughts on how this may or may not help you with SA?
