I have been satisified with lexapro for the most part but I can no longer afford to pay for it. It's an extra $40 a month.

Are there any generics similar to lexapro?

Celexa is the original Lexapro (literally - Lexapro is synthesized from Celexa), and it's on most large retailers' $4 generic list (Walmart, Kroger, Target) as citalopram. If you meant SSRI's in general, there are more $4 generics available now - Paxil and Prozac.

Probly the closest thing you'll get in a generic is Celexa (citalopram), but take into account the dosage equivilents; 5 mg of lexapro= 20 mg of celexa, so you'll probly have to up your dosage of celexa accordingly.
