I have recently deleted my facebook, and it feels good. Facebook does more harm for my mental state than good...! But most people don't seem to realise how much harm it does..? Even I didn't until later on, and even my parents pointed out how my behavior has changed ever since I stopped using fb. It's like a drug...! I was addicted.

Many of you have Facebook? What do you think? Especially since we all have a common issue of SA, does it make socializing easier for you, or more depressing since it's not REAL contact?

I feel its a great complement to "normal" people. Those who are outgoing, social, get out there and "live it up", etc.

Its definitely not for an introverted freak like me. I have no idea why I keep using it. If I were gone, I'd be lucky if 10% of my friend list (currently 300+) batted an eyelid.

All I get in my feed are countless photos of hot people partying and doing cool things together. It makes me jelly.

It's a great tool to be used as design intended, but considering it is deigned for socialising and sharing ones social experiences it probably would not be for everyone here. I guess if it makes you feel lonely and down then it's not worth having.

LOLOL same... I'm not jealous though, because it's not my life, that's why I got off. I mean joining in and watching all peoples lives would be enough to drive some crazy.

At first i didn't see the point in making a facebook because i didn't want to add people i went to school with who never talked to me then my aunt met some guy on facebook in another state and ran away with him leaving her kid's with their dad so for a while i figured facebook was just an excuse for grown up's act like teenagers but some of my family made facebook's so i ended up making one.Sometimes i check it just to see what everyone is doing. Also I hate it when i am around people that have to take pictures of everything and post it and wait for comment's I guess it's nice for some people though,my cousin met his wife on facebook and my sister meet's guy's.

Facebook has gotten out of control. Facebook is a place for unimportant people to feel important. If you get what I'm saying. People are literally posting "Ouch just stubbed my toe" or "Look at these half nude pics of me, no I don't want attention." or "look how exciting my life is, just thought everyone should know."

Facebook has become a joke to me, I only get on to laugh at the things people post that is all.

I was always afraid of facebook. I made one 3 years ago for the sole purpose of keeping up with information related to certain groups in my area, but I recently deleted it after I realized I had no use for it. Only "friends" I had on it were people I worked with in certain situations, so I felt like it wasn't necessary for me to have it.

I never posted any information on it. It's not something I want people on facebook knowing or seeing.

I only use it when I have something really spectacular going on in my life that I want to share, which is rare. Not really interested what everyone else is doing because they seem happy and I'm obviously not. Feelings of envy will emerge if I browse the timeline for too long.

Agreed! Especially with "Facebook is a place for unimportant people to feel important".
It either represents or turns people into narcissists.

The fact is, how do you know that what they are saying is true? There are people who posted countless things on facebook that made others jealous because of how awesome their life looked, but then they commit suicide. Obviously not happy. It's just lies, really.

Yeah it's definitely more for extroverts. I feel self conscious posting anything because I have a lot of people added since I went to a large school, yet if I barely had anyone added I think I'd be even more bored on it than I am atm.
I honestly hope it goes the same way as Myspace and Bebo, neither of which were as bad. I sort of just keep my Facebook to catch up with people if my phone runs out of battery.
I do like Twitter though, but I guess I just tweet something and carry on with my day without having to worry about who liked it or whatever.

I had unfriended the mass amount of people who had "friended" me, which were just people who recognized my name from high school and added me just to boost one more number on their friend count. Now I have around 5 people on my list, which are family, a neighbor who I don't talk to, and an old ex-friend which I don't talk to.

I actually haven't been on it for a long time because for some reason my anti-virus protection is blocking the site haha. I guess it detects the absolute sh-t that FB is and is protecting me from the narcissism and shallowness that might infect me.

I'm really hoping the FB fad will fade out, but for some reason I feel it's all just getting worse. Our society is just getting more and more narcissistic, it's horrifying to witness. Thank god my virus protection is doing it's job.

LOL, totally agreed. I think someday it will fade out like everything, but I think that will be a long time away, sadly.

I like it,I don't talk to much people so I like to see what they are up to,as most people would add me.And I managed to talk to some through it,so I like it.

I have more fun on my other profile,I use a nickname so I can like and comment on pages I like without having to deal with what others will think.

I think for most people it creates a lot of problems people talk a lot of bs on there. Facebook is always on the news for the wrong reasons. How many times you seen someone killed someone over something on facebook?

Only good thing I can see about it is communicating with family members if you do have them overseas, it is a good tool for that otherwise nope it is crap.
