I'll be living by myself for the first time next year (senior year at college, dorm all other three), and I am somewhat worried about becoming lonely. I'm wondering if it is worth getting a camera for my laptop so that I can skype....

Can you talk to random people on there like omegle, or do you have to know screennames?

Could it be useful for learning languages. For instance, would it be easy to connect with a Spanish speaking person on there (relates to first question).?

its an online voice chat program, which allows you to still hide behind the computer, and talk to others. you can create your own screen name. skype is used all around the world, so i would assume you can learn other languages with others.

calling computer to computer is completely free.

You'll need a screen name in order to chat with someone.

You can install it and have a look without a camera or microphone. It does text chat too.
