Would you all be interested in doing game picks every week? Perhaps create a little scoring system (1 pt for a correct pick, 0 for a wrong)?

L-Baltimore over Tenn.
L-Detroit over Chicago
W-Philly over San Fran.
L-Buffalo over Tampa Bay
W-Indianapolis over Jacksonville
L-New England over Carolina
W-Pitt over Houston
L-Arizona over St. Louis
L-Atlanta over Seattle
L-Miami over NYJ
L-Green Bay over Cleveland
L-San Diego over Denver
W-KC over Oakland
L-NO over NYG
L-Dallas over Washington
W-Cin. over Minn.

EDIT: Oh crap! I forgot the Cinn-Minn game! I fixed it.

EDIT: Oye! I did terrible. It doesn't even matter if I win both of the games tonight, I am sunk this week :lol

Bal over Ten
If Tennessee can't stop Willie Parker, then they won't stop Jamal Lewis.

Det over Chi
I do expect Harrington to have an ugly game, though.

Phi over SF
You couldn't have scripted this more perfectly for Philly.

Buf over TB
These are really similiar teams. Great defenses, so-so offenses. I'll go with the Bills just because I like McGahee to come up big.

Jax over Ind
Here's my big upset...the Jags match up well and I think Leftwhich is going pick apart that secondary.

NE over Car
The Panthers are struggling and NE just doesn't lose to those types of teams.

Pit over Hou
Doesn't Carr get sacked 300 times a year? Blitzburgh gonna eat him alive.

StL over Ari
I want to go with the Cards, but I think the Rams are going to have a big game after last week's debacle. Look for Bulger to put up some huge numbers.

Atl over Sea
Vick's going to kill that defense, but more importantly Atlanta's defense is gonna kill Hasselbeck.

Mia over NYJ
Pennington's hurt or just not that good...either way Saban has Miami's D in top form again. Meanwhile Frerotte goes 2-0 as a starter. egads

GB over Cle
Do you think Favre will another terrible game? Against this defense? Me neither.

SD over Den
Plummer will get pressured and throw some picks. Tomlinson will score some touchdowns. The sun will rise.

KC over Oak
No, I don't think KC's defense is that great. It won't matter, though, since they're going to put up 273 points against the Raiders.

NO over NYG
The Giants didn't really play as well as the score would suggest last week. Meanwhile I don't want to get stoned to death so I'll pick the Saints.

Dal over Was
This will be a boring, ugly game. Dallas will win but few will care by the end.

Min over Cin
The Bengals can play with anyone, but I expect Culpepper to come back big against their defense.

Now this was an ugly week. I am still stunned by that Dallas game last night. THEY HAD IT!!!! I still don't know what happened.

- Is it too early to be calling for Mike Tice's head yet? Just wondering.

- When will SF stop screwing around with Tim Rattay. They aren't going anywhere with this guy and since this season is pretty much a wash, why not put the rookie in now?

- I'm predicting by mid-october that Jeff Garcia will be starting in Detroit.

- The NFC north is so bad that it isn't outside the realm of possiblity that the freaking Chicago Bears could win the division.

Okay.. those are my rants about week 2. Here are the scores

Nutsy: 9pts
Wart: 8pts
Myself: 5pts
DJ62: 4pts
rb27: 4pts

Did I miss anybody?

:agree
Washington does Dallas :lol
Only good thing about the Washington win,is I had S. Moss in my one
money league, picked him up after somebody dropped him last week.
:banana
Never too early to be calling for Tice's head.
mid season at the latest is my guess.

And Detroit, somebody is going to get canned.
Joey for sure,headcoach Mooch maybe.
Too bad Detroit is one of my favorite teams.

And wheres the Ravens running game? :con

This was certainly a football weekend to forget on multiple fronts.

Though Jeff Garcia ( if not for the broken fibula and ankle injury ) probably would have taken over for Joey Harrington in the 2nd half of the game against the Bears, the truth of the matter is this was a total team loss. The Lions gave up TD's on Offense and on a Punt Return by Bobby Wade, in addition to the Defense playing a subpar game. Right now, the most glaring problem with the Lions is the Offensive Line. Both in terms of Pass Protection and in Run Blocking. It wouldn't have mattered if Sammy Baugh or John Elway were playing QB in their primes for the Lions the other day. Besides the Offensive Line, the WR's have to pick up their play, in order for Harrington and Kevin Jones to be able to maximize their performances. On the plus side, Marcus Pollard has been a very good addition at TE. Both on the field and as a leader.

As for Garcia, he could be back in late October or November. The next few weeks could well determine the future of Joey Harrington in Detroit. Being that Garcia has won for Steve Mariucci in the past, Harrington's lease will become very short once Garcia returns.

No need to be concerned.

Unfortunately, Jeff Garcia was injured in the final pre-season game at Buffalo. Garcia took off running like he often has done throughout his career. Well after he got the 1st down, instead of sliding, he tried to get every last inch out of the play. Bills CB Terrence McGee clotheslined Garcia. What compounded the situation is Garcia's leg got caught in the artificial turf at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Thankfully, Garcia didn't need surgery for the ankle injury, which was the concern until he visited with a specialist in North Carolina a few days after the injury.

I think that Jeff Garcia is one of those guys that has consistantly gotten the screw job either by the teams he has played for (not as bad as Kurt Warner has though) or fate in general. With the 49ers, he was unloaded because of the cap problems and he had to deal with that pain in the neck TO. In Cleveland he had no offensive support at all and now in Detroit he was delegated to the bench only to get hurt in the pre-season :lol
