First, recognize any feeling or thought you have as being legitimate. I get angry at myself for being so awkward, or ashamed because of something I did or didn't do. I get annoyed at myself for thinking of certain things, or of being the way I am. I've tried to stop all that, and just see myself as okay the way I am. I have every right to my thoughts and how I feel.

Secondly, it helps to see everything as a joke. Not ha-ha funny, but in a dry or sarcastic way. If I'm in an awkward situation, I'll think some sarcastic thought about it, and it doesn't make me laugh or anything, but it does make it slightly better. Even if it's dark humor, it does help. I know a lot of the times things like SA really just aren't funny. There are times when it will be impossible to even attempt to make something into a joke. But when you can, this helps.
