I run Adaware every now and then, and tracking cookies always show up after searching. I'd like to know how to find where the cookies originate. I'm not going to die if I don't find out ;) , but it would be very helpful.

banner ads... the banner ads slip cookies in with the request so that every time you access a page with their banner, they know... so if you visit 10 different sites with their banner, they have that information and can compile and sell the statistics...

sometimes it's more legitimate tho... any site with a login, or personal information (like a forum), that persists that information across sessions without forcing you to manually log in, will store a cookie with your account information...

What I personally do with both firefox and internet explorer is have them prompt being a site can store a cookie. If its a site I know I need a login for such as this one I'll set to to always accept. Any fishy sites I block the domain from storing cookies on my machine.
