Is there a way to delete just those types of posts without locking the entire thing? Sometimes it starts out good or the intention is good, but then it goes south with the "women have high standards and have it easier" garbage.

Thanks! :b

It's a discussion that's been had enough and unfortunately never goes anywhere good. See the closed stickied thread in the frustration forum.

We are not allowing threads of this type anymore.

Edit: My mistake, it's in the Relationship forum.

It should be stickied in the Frustration forum as well. :( It is pretty bad over there, but Mind Games took care of some of them.

Doesn't anyone care about the men!? With their poor little egos and fragile fortitude and envious lustfulness?!?

Yeah, we shouldn't make this a free space in which people can openly discuss their frustrations and problems. Here is an idea, if you don't like a thread, don't read it. Awaits banning, frankly past carring.

The threads are completely banned ?

There must be a way of moderating without completely banning these type of threads.

Yes, the female members may not like the opinion of the typical male-sexually frustrated SAer.

But the same can be said for every thread a woman makes about "being ugly and why men place priority on physical beauty"

I can sit here and argue all day that men such as myself do not value women solely on their looks.... but that doesn't mean that female-SAer's should be denied permission to post threads of her perceived gender discrimination.

If a woman can post threads about gender discrimination as she sees it.

Man should be allowed to post threads about gender discrimination as he sees it.

^ I think it goes both ways -- any gender war thread started by either gender.

Look this has nothing to do with good moderation. Moderation is about protecting the forum from legal issues, and posters from personal abuse. This forum already has sections for controversial discussions, on topics which provoke heated responses, such as politics. Or sections like the frustration section, for people to vent. If you don't like that sort of posting, then users are free to avoid those sections.

This is about a group of posters, with the aid of moderators, trying to impose their own point of view on this forum. This is a safe place were people seek help, people who have difficult fitting into modern society. However, it is also a safe place for people without much of a support network to vent their frustrations, and for SA men one of those frustrations, is how they are treated by women. Banning them from posting isn't going to make those issues or frustration disappear.

There are ways to vent frustration without resorting to sexist remarks and making sweeping negative generalizations about an entire gender. Saying women have it easier isn't venting about a specific problem or issue with a specific woman that the poster had. It's demeaning the issues that women face by claiming that they don't exist, or don't measure up to the issues that men face. Frankly, that is offensive.

You talk about this being a safe place, but it sounds like you just want it to be a safe place for the male posters and not the female ones. Those types of threads are hurtful to the female members of SAS. To make these forums a welcoming environment for all members, threads that are sexist in nature should not be allowed.

Calling it "venting" is just a cover, to be frank. It's one thing to write about an experience with one or a few women. But those threads rarely go that route. What usually happens, is the poster equates his experience to being a representation of all women, and then it goes down hill from there to turn into a woman bashing fest, where we're all accused of lying about what we really want, only caring about a man's wallet, having it easy in life, etc etc.

That's not venting, that's outright sexism, plain and simple. So if you support this place being a safe environment, then you should support those types of threads being banned too.
