With the rise of social media, comparing yourself to others is easier than ever. Now you don't just have to hear about someone's trip to Thailand with their beautiful wife, the pictures of it are readily available online. We collect friends and likes to provide us with a false sense of comfort in an ever disconnected world. The more we have the better we feel.

Unfortunately, hate is even easier to spread in this form of communication. Years ago, people were held accountable for their actions in person. Now anyone hell bent on spreading drama can post an anonymous comment and send anyone into a self-loathing tailspin for hours if they choose.

Still, it's not just social media and the internet. You can spot them walking down the street. They're in the grocery store and at the mall. They have more money, they are more attractive, and they are more successful than you are. They have everything you could ever dream of having and you hate yourself for not living up to their image of perfection.

You have fallen victim to the comparison trap. The longer you spend in this head space, the more powerless you will feel.

There will always be people that are better than you.

With more than 7 billion people in the world, you will never be able to escape this. It is a sad fact of life. You are not perfect and no matter how hard you try, you never will be. Even if you manage to come close to perfection, you will not be able to maintain this one hundred percent of the time. And you wouldn't want to.

Imagine a world where you were better than everyone. Think about how stressful it would be to maintain that image. Think about how tiring it would be to have everyone worship you. Where would the enjoyment be in playing video games? What would be the point of playing sports? What a sad, boring life.

Even though you might not be as funny or social as someone else, it doesn't make you any less of a person. You have your own unique talents and it is time you start recognizing them.

How would your life be different if you stopped comparing yourself to others?
