I have read 3 books by people that live with Social Anxiety. I have to say that reading about there experiences and seeing what they have been able to over come gives me hope for my future.

  • The Hell of Social Phobia by Terry Cunningham (Steve Conway's Story)
  • Kirstin's Story: No Place to Stand by Jean Jardine Miller
  • Rae: My True Story of Fear, Anxiety, and Social Phobia by Chelsea Rae Swiggett

While not specifically tailored to their anxiety, I feel like reading biographies on people like Moe Norman (Canadian Golfer) and Alfred Tennyson (Victorian poet) have really helped me in feeling more positive about my anxiety. If those people can be so awesome while suffering from anxiety, why can't I do the same?!

Then there are Barbara Streisand and Harrison Ford, who are in show-business. US Presidents Calvin Coolidge and Ulysses S. Grant also had social phobia. In my opinion Grant is the most surprising of all. Before he was President, he was a general in the Civil War.
