Okay yes, this is Day #2 of my job and I already have a problem :b I am SO sore and it's hurting my speed at work. My feet ache and my legs are soo bad that I can hardly walk without limping around. Is there anything I can do to help this? I have 3 more days of work this week and then I get 2 days off. I'd really like to move a little faster.

I know it'll go away when I get used to the physical activity and hot showers don't seem to do anything.

Maybe I'm just hoping for a miracle :lol Man, I didn't know stocking would be so physically demanding!

I guess you can cancel that gym membership. :)

Ibuprofen will help. I would layoff the hot showers, in fact a 15 minute soak in a bucket of cold water might be good for your feet.

Congrats on the job. :clap

I have that problem alot at work. I work for nine hours a day walking around on a concrete floor. That makes my knees especially sore since my joints are absorbing the shock from walking. Its alot different than walking on carpet or dirt, at least you have some cushioning there but with concrete or hard floors your body takes the shock. My knees hurt so badly some days it hurts to walk by the end of the day. It seems to bother me worse during humid weather. One thing that seems to help me is using cushioned insoles in my shoes. I bought a pair of those Dr. Scholl's insoles and it did seem to help in my case. I have to wear heavy leather work boots for safety and durability reasons at my job. You might also try finding a comfortable pair of running shoes, just something to help reduce the amount of shock to your legs and feet.

Oh man, just got up and now my legs are double sore, it's mostly in the calves and thighs. My feet usually "cure" overnight so those are okay until after another 6 hours of work. I want to go upstairs to get some water but I don't know if I can make it :lol

I have some Acetaminophen here, and it does say for muscle aches and pains, I'll have to try that..

And I have to wear steel toe boots, except I don't have any yet, so the running shoe idea is out :?

Hey darkangel. I did pretty much the same job as you a few years ago (I worked at ASDA; Walmart own ASDA), and I've never felt as beat up as I did after that first night. My back felt like it was broken in two, my hands were all cut, bleeding and painful. Every muscle in my body hurt, and god was I tired :p But it got better and after a few times I didn't hurt much at all. Just stick at it and it'll get easier.

I've been reading your posts about getting a job and I just want to say 'good on you.' You wanted to do something and you went out and did it. I like that, it's commendable. :banana

I think I can already work better after 4 days and 32 hours of stocking.. I hate to have to worry about my job as well as my soreness ugh.

I do stocking and it kills my legs to be walking around for so many hours. Usually it cures overnight only to act up again later in the day. I tend to work at a steady pace instead of rushing myself. I find that helps me out a lot.
Sounds like a good plan.. Although I kind of have to work fast to get all the work done, double ugh. Last night I had like 3 full pallets I couldn't finish.

Sounds like my first few days! I have cuts on my hands, bruises all over my forearms, bruises all over my legs, plus all the aches and pains. It's not as bad as the 2nd night though.

Thank you :) If I didn't get a job my family would probably wither away and die, so I really had no choice. I get my first paycheck on June 3rd :cig

All you can do is just do your job and endure it, there's no easy way out of it, its just a little kick in the *** and reminder of what happens when you go so long without physical activity. Just remember that this won't kill you only make you stronger so make sure it doesn't demotavate you, but by the sound of it that isn't the case at all, you seem more interested in doing your job properaly and maintaing your goal.

Welcome to the working world, it's a pain in the *** but it's the best thing you could ever do for yourself- next to education. Good luck with it all and hope it turns out well for you.

And it happened like you guys said, I'm not sore anymore! There's a little bit in my ankles for some reason, but other than that the pain has gone away. When I posted it, the soreness was unbearable and annoying, but it seems to be okay now..

Welcome to the working world.. lol It IS a pain in the ***; I feel like I'm living at work!
