That's crazy. I can't imagine what the people in Russia thought when this first happened. Why does it seem like all meteors always hit Russia?

This story is fascinating, but poor Russia always the target. We would have to keep watching the skies for meteors if they fall on us.:confused:

there is no air 200 km above earth...
It was about 10 km above the ground but about 200 km in whatever compass direction from the town of Chelyabinsk.

Actually it seems the explosive force has been revised up to 500 kilotons, equivalent to the largest fission bomb ever made, or a small hydrogen bomb.

Apparently there was 'an increase in the concentration of water molecules in the orbit that possibly indicates that the space "guest" was a comet.'

I had to look up where the town is on Google. There are four lakes in the area, so it could have landed in any one of the four.
