First of all, are they for just sad or do you have other conditions? Also, have you tried nardil and expereinced harsh side effects? If not, it is my opinion that the side effects of maois are blown way out of proportion!!! Good Luck!!!

It depends on what symptoms you are trying to treat. If you are trying to focus more on ridding yourself of the physical manifestations of anxiety, beta blockers are probably the way to go or benzos. A lot of people on here have had a lot of luck with adderall or benzos like klonopin and xanax, however, it's real hard to find doctors that are willing to prescribe it and prescribe it in doses that help. Everything you've tried so far has been an SSRI, so you probably want to get away from that and try other classes. You've got SNRI's like effexor, TCA's like elavil, and many drugs that aren't approved for social anxiety but may help you depending on the person like gabapentin, welbutrin, lamital, tramadol, mirapex, ect.

Is anyone here prescribed tramadol (Ultram) for SA or any other mental disorder or know of anybody who is?

I've tried 4 out of the 5 drugs you list and none helped; not even sure what mirapex is.

SSRIs just flatten out serotonin activity; you don't get any depressive lows or euphoric highs, just endless monotonous zombification.

Why not raise these chemicals rather than flatten them? Yohimbine blocks the brain's "sensor" for serotonin levels, so it thinks "whoa there, we don't have much serotonin do we now!?". It then pumps up the synthesis and release of serotonin in a sustainable way that won't give you withdrawals.

The only problem with yohimbine is its annoying effect of causing release of noradrenaline/adrenaline, which causes blood pressure rises, anxiety, etc. This can be easily sorted by adding carvedilol, a mixed alpha/beta blocker used to control heart rate/blood pressure. Sounds dangerous, but when titrated up slowly, it really isn't.

They all probably won't work for most people but once in a blue moon they do. Tramadol probably won't get prescribed for a mental disorder but sometimes people who get it prescribed for pain found it to help some of the mental problems they have. Mirapex is used for restlest leg syndrome but it acts as a dopamine agonist so some people who have been prescribed it found it to help.

MissMay1977 - I am also taking Paxil and Adderall. Do you mind if I ask how much adderall you are taking and how much Paxil? Also, are those the only 2 meds that you are on or are you on others too? I am taking 30 mgs of Paxil, 150 mgs of Welbutrin and 10mg(2x day) of adderall. But I am thinking of also talking to my PD about adding something specifically for anxiety but not sure what yet.

It's not available via prescription in the US, although I think you can order it online.

Carvedilol only partially blocks alpha/beta-adrenergic activity. Claiming it's safe to use to counter the adverse hypertensive effects of other medications is purely conjecture. I would strongly discourage this combination.

Yes! I finally figured out the quote thing! H*LL to the yah! Ok I am on 60mg of Paxil for depression and anxiety, I am on 60mg of Adderall for ADHD, and I am on 180 mg of Geodon as a mood stabilizer. I have bipolar as well. SA is a secondary condition for me.

I personally think that I need concerta or strattera added to my Adderall. I still have a hard time to focus.

But like I said, Paxil has helped me so much. I know it makes some people sleepy but not me. Does it make you sleepy?

Thanks for the info. Yes, Paxil does make me sleepy but it helps me so much that I don't mind the drowsiness. That is actually why my PD prescribed me adderall - to offset the drowsiness of the Paxil.

Very strange that it doesn't make you sleepy. How long have you been on it?
