Yes, I've changed mine once before and probably will again in the future.

But I'm a very visual person and the way I remember members is by their avatars. If they change it, I sometimes think it's a new SAS member unless I look up their profile again. It's just kind of frustrating because sometimes it appears as though none of the old posters are around anymore even though that's not the case at all.

Anyone else feel the same? I'm not saying we should make avatars permanent at all, I'm just making an observation.

And if I change my avatar again, it will prob be another pic of the Harry Potter chick, lol. But who knows, I might make it a pic of palm trees because everyone thinks I'm Hawaiian based on my username.

Is that you in your avatar? If so, it's a good pic -- you should consider keeping it.

Avatars do make it very easy to ID people rapidly when scrolling down a list of posts. I've kept mine as the Ruger eagle logo for quite a long time. It's hard to find many things that come out looking decent within the confines of 100x100 pixels or less.

It often confuses me too. I'm not very good with names and often just go by avatar. Like Jaan's post... I know there was another member with that image. And though I can't remember that person's username, I clearly remember his posts.

If I've gotten use to their avatar it's weird seeing them with a new one, kinda like I don't recognize them anymore lol.

I've only changed mine once sine I joined, I kinda like my M&M so I doubt I'll change it again.

It's a combination of the username and avatar for me, I used to get caught out by this problem at other forums so I started to associate the names as well. Still sometimes takes awhile to latch on when people change it (if they are not regular posters) but it doesn't really bother me tooo much.

I am a serial avatar changing pest myself anyway xD

It's not a pic of me:( It's one of Harry Potter's side-kicks. I easily remember you because you haven't changed your avatar since I first joined this site. I also tend to remember all the people that replied to my first thread. I actually thought you were a moderator in the beginning, lol. Not sure why *scratches head*

I change mine monthly, like my undies. It's the only excitement I get out of life these days.
See, you're a perfect example of how I get confused. I remember your posts from a couple months ago and then I thought you disappeared. It took me a while to figure out that you simply changed your avatar, lol.

I like when people change their avatars. It adds variety to the visual aspect of browsing. It's like wearing different clothes.

If people stand out enough to me then I remember their usernames. They don't need to have an avatar at all.

I've changed mine a few times. I usually change it up when I get bored and start manipulating pictures of myself. If I create anything that might look cool as an avatar, then in it goes.
