There are some places in Melbourne where you can meet other people, but it may not necessarily be to your liking.

I just recently created a message board for Australia-based people dealing with shyness, social anxiety, and other issues. It is listed in my profile (I don't want to be pulled up for promoting another site, even if it is a money-losing adventure which I will never try to make any revenue from via ads, even to cover costs, so please delete this reference if it is not in the nature of this board).

Adavic.org is an organisation if you want to go Drew's route with support groups. Personally I find those organisations with their seminars and things are "not for me", but they might be for you.

There is a terrific group on meetup.com for Melbourne people with shyness and social anxiety. I have attended a couple of meet-ups and I can say it is for me, because the best method for me at this point in time is to just "get out there" and socialise a little. It is a purely social group, which again may or may not be for you.

I am happy to meet people myself, although if you or anyone are interested in meeting I do require some time getting to know someone before meeting them (I don't want to meet total strangers one-on-one or in very small groups). I wouldn't be surprised if you or anyone are the same way. Actually, as a safety precaution it is kind of expected. I do like "boring" things like gardens, though.

Good luck, I would definitely be keen if I was over there.

Sure thing. I think I will take a look at that link and try one of those meet-ups but at the same time it seems a little daunting, as does meeting up with anybody i don't know too well for that matter.

But anyway, if you think you are ready, just PM me with some details or whatever or even if you just wanna talk some more via online first so you can get to know people a little better i might be a little more comfortable that way too.

Dammit, why do all the cool people live in Melbourne.. I could drive there in a day, but the trip wouldn't feel accomplished if i ultimately fail to provide any decent conversation..

I'd like to come, I live in Keysborough which is about 20-30 minutes away from pakenham?
(At least I live there when I don't go to uni... haha) During study times I can't go to group sessions in a big city even if I wanted to. If there is a meeting, could it be located in an easily acessible place via public transport?
