Does anyone have any advice for the Nardil sexual issues. I know other meds have had stuff like this so if their experience can be put towards Nardil then I'll read about that.

Basically what I'm finding is it's hard to reach orgasm. To me it seems like there may be reduced sensitivity which is causing the problem. To actually have one takes a a lot of work and with the reduced feeling and time it takes I'm sometimes having trouble staying up.

So are there any successful options out there? I know most people say it goes away in time but I'm still finding it here after 4 months I think.

I'd like to stay away from perscription stuff but if nothing else is effective and there is a perscription then I'll consider it. Is Viagra or anything like that safe to take with Nardil or will it cause issues with blood pressure? That could at least maybe be a remedy for one issue.

Well so far I have tried Horny Goat Weed and Cyproheptadine. I took 4mg pill of Cyproheptadine an hour before and didn't notice any change.

I took 2 Horny Goat Weed 500mg capsules at breakfast and lunch and it again didn't help. Of course that was the first day of taking that and I've read it may take a couple days to notice anything.

Just wondering if anyone has done higher doses of Cyproheptadine or Horny Goat Weed? Higher Cypro will probably just make me fall asleep..

Does taking the Cyrpoheptadine daily allow it to build up and work better or should it work after taking it no matter what?

If both of these continue to not work then I have to look at a perscription. I'm on 60mg of Nardil , what would be the best , safest choice to add to completely get rid of the anorgasmia and any trouble keeping it up?

viagra's been used successfully before with nardil, talk to your doctor and here's a reference:

Phenelzine-induced sexual dysfunction treated with sildenafil
Sanjay Gupta abc; Prakash Masand d; Adam K. Ashton b; Sarah L. Berry e
Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy,25:2,131 - 135 (1999)
This article describes the presence, in a 56-year-old male, of sexual
dysfunction that was associated with phenelzine (Nardil) and was
treated successfully with sildenafil (Viagra). The sexual dysfunction
was assessed using the Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale for males

the other things i don't think are safe, they've been used successfully by experts but also have caused severe dangerous problems:

Possible toxic interaction between cyproheptadine and phenelzine.
Kahn DA.
Am J Psychiatry. 1987 Sep;144(9):1242-3

the key word is POSSIBLE, so if you've done it before and had no problems don't worry about new ones happening, but i definitely don't suggest trying it again

I've been taking Nardil for about 2 months now. Reaching the big O is almost as hard as winning the lottery. But I somehow can do it about once a month. I know this passes (from past experience with the drug), but I hope it goes away soon because its one of the few things that make's us all sane.

yea, does depend on whether the problem is getting it up or if it's anorgasmia :) partner probably might not like the not getting it up part, so viagra could help in those cases (i never had this problem on nardil tho, but some people i know have).

i would suggest trying calcium for those cases before going to the doctor to ask about the viagra. the viagra does something to promote NO (nitric oxide) release and the calcium is involved to signal the same changes in the body (it flows into the cell and binds to proteins which signal more NO production). i remember this comedian robert schimmel joking about how he couldn't get it up on his heart medication, maybe it was a calcium channel blocker. phenelzine usually has no effect on heart rate but when it does it usually lowers it.
