When you're on a sports team, it's hard not to automatically bond with your team members, because you are literally physically and mentally close to each other quite a lot. That is an issue I have to face, being on a sports team. In addition to having social anxiety, I am an INFP type, so I am extra hard to understand/get to know. I feel like the people on my team are judging me all the time, and it makes me really uncomfortable because I can't just magically be confident and sure of myself. They make me doubt who I am every step of the way. It really sucks, because I love playing the sport and being on the team is really important to me. ='(

I know what thats like. I quit teams, because i cannot deal with the people. Expecially after games, they always wanted to hang out in the bar. Not me though, i just wanted to go home afterwards.

It would be great if i could do a sport, without any social requirement. Just the sport on its own...

I get the same feelings but you have to try convince yourself that they aren't judging you they're probably thinking more about their own game and if they haven't kicked you of the team you must be alright at whatever it is your playing.

Down, I agree with you. I am a huge sports nut, and would love to play one as long as I didn't have to deal with the people.
Thanks. I dont understand the other guys that do the sports (and their mentality) they are the "lads" that go out and drink, and pull etc. Its like they expect you to be like them if you join a team.

I cannot do that. I like to get on with things, get the job done etc. No need for meaningless socialising. Its frustrating liking something that is for extroverts really. I really enjoy most sports because of the activity, but i am put off by the people.
