no compressed charcoal, its a style (and if you already know this sorry known as nuetral ground, its where you cover the page in charcoal and then gently rub the page until you get a dark gray. Then you use the eraser to get all the lights and a stick of compressed charcoal to get the super darks. Thats how all my drawings are done.
wow, we're the same age. your art is SO much better than mine though. nice job. do you draw these all from photographs, or do you also use models/draw from your imagination?
All this is live obersvational drawing, the second one however I placed my model in three different positions, based on where his respective proportions came up on inatimate objects -i.e. such as when he's in position 1 his head meets the top of this pipe where as he is only two thirds that hieght in position 2 so he would look this tall in comparison.-
Incredible! I've always wanted to be able to draw. I have a small amount of drawing ability but nothing like this. I think I would worship myself if I could do this.
