Beware of Yahoo driving directions if you are planning a trip, they aren't very accurate. They tend to focus on interstate routes and won't always give you the shortest route. I looked up driving directions on Yahoo from my home to Des Moines once. Des Moines is about 220 miles south of me and the route they showed had me driving north two hours to get onto the interstate so I could turn around and drive south over 300 miles.
you can turn on the "roads" overlay, and it will show you all the roads and names, on a 3d representation of earth that you can zoom around on. you can even input two locations and it will show you how to drive there and you can quickly zoom around in 3d and look at where it goes i think google earth feeds from the same information as google maps, too... and it makes it easier to bookmark all kinds of places and quickly jump to them
it also has all kinds of other overlays... 3d buildings, hotels, schools, hospitals, etc etc... and you can download 3rd party overlays, like the "tour de france" locations, or weather information, etc...
