I've been reading Living with Anxiety - A clinically-tested step-by-step plan for drug-free management over the past few weeks. The authors, Bob Montgomery Ph.D. and Laurel Morris Ph.D. are pretty down on medications for treating anxiety, which I don't fully agree with. Lexapro has helped me out a lot. Perhaps drugs on the market have improved since they wrote the book., I'm not sure. Anyway, they have some pretty practical suggestions, for dealing with several types of anxiety and panic. Chapters 10 - 12 have lots of advice for dealing with anxious thoughts/feelings and physical symptoms. I've found that their idea of having prepared coping statements very helpful, for one thing.
