I didn't know where to post this. Just something I read about birds that I thought sounded similar to me! (and I'm sure everyone else here) It was a bit funny even. I was thinking about getting a bird for a pet, not sure yet though.

"Most of us find it fairly easy to meet new people. For a bird, however, new faces, new voices and new surroundings are terrifying. A bird isn't naturally people-friendly; she doesn't gravitate naturally toward humankind, and people can appear frightening to her."

:D So true. Although some can be acustomed to: Humans = food givers = humans are nice creatures.

Birds are such poetic creatures. So many great poems about the life and personality of birds. I find them mysterious, angelic and yet gregarious animals. Also there is so much we are alike.

Have you kept birds before?

I have 2 Indian Ringneck Parrots. I can tell you keeping birds is no easy job. Id rather tell people the truth than to tell them what wonderful pets they make, because too many people buy birds and dont know what theyre in for, then the bird suffers.

Of course they make wonderful loving loyal entertaining pets! But.. its best to know the facts before you consider getting one.

I would do as much research into the breed of bird you want before you go out and look for your lil baby!

My first birds were cockatiels and I would highly recommend them as a first bird owners pet.

But..
Here is some questions you might want to look at..

Go on some forums and research research research. Goodluck with your decision!

I am an admin at a Indian Ringneck parrot site, if you want to know anything about ringneck parrots.

My 2 are very different in personality and how they get along with humans.. my male.. loves humans and is not afraid of stealing your food if your eating here lol. He loves to check out any visitors and accepts everyone unless they really annoy him.
My female on the other hand, is very dominant and confident when shes comfortable with just her husband (my male bird) and me, but anyone else shes terrified of and hides from or just screetches her guts out at. 2 years on, she still is scared of my partner and wont even stand being in the same room as him!

From a bird lover.. birds are so underestimated as pets! But please.. do some research. :)

I can relate to this quote at times myself
Im gonna get old and be a crazy rooftop pigeon guy. Im gonna train em to send all SAers letters of encouragement.
Birds get to a certain age, and then are left to fend for themselves in the world!

Very similar. Although most of the same type of bird will be in a flock. So i'm not sure if they are "being sheep" or "using strength in numbers" lol

Seagulls would probably be chavs if they were human.

Birds poop on everything. So your not a bird. At least I don't think so.
I think I was a bird in my previous life.. that would explain a lot. :D

I always like being up high. I don't feel like a burden when I'm up high.. never been afraid of heights. And I always like to be on the move.. I love traveling. If someone makes me just a little bit uncomfortable, my first instinct is to fly away.
^I love birds and always do. I always wish I was a bird myself too. Maybe in my past life I was one?
If you heard my terrible singing, you would second guess the idea of people with SA being birds :)
