My favorite kind of beer is wheat beer. I have loved it ever since I first drank it. I never used to think that any beer was enjoyable before I started trying wheat beers. I now actually understand that some people really do drink beer for the taste.

Anybout, list your favorite wheat beers in order from best to least best and a short description so I can research some new beers to try.

Mine are:

1. Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat

2. Leinenkugels Sunset Wheat

3. Leinenkugels Honey Weiss

4. Shock Top Belgian White

I wasn't even aware that was a wheat beer, but it's the only one on your list that I've ever tasted. I'd rate it as OK. The name is a bit deceptive as you might expect something that tastes sweet, but it's not. It seems to have just a tiny bit of honey to help offset the bitter taste that is typical of beer. It's not bad, but IMO it's simply not worth the price. The only other Leinenkugels product I've tried is Berry Weiss, now that stuff is really sweet (and higher in calories as a result of all that added sugar).

If I'm looking for taste, I wouldn't buy any beer. I've found that I much prefer hard cider (fermented apple juice). It's packaged in brown bottles just like beer, but it has a pleasant taste totally devoid of the bitter taste that is a hallmark of beers.

I'll assume Sam Adams Cherry Wheat is a wheat beer given the name. Good as far as beers go, but definitely not worth the price.

I can't say I love the taste of beer, so to me it's simply a means to an end. Thus, I'd simply buy 4 pints of Steel Reserve for $1.99. That's a brew with no pretense -- it's made to get you loaded as cheaply as possible.

I work just up the hill from the Boulevard Brewery. I love Boulevard Wheat! However, many of the bars around here will put a lemon slice in the glass if you order BW from the tap.

Wheat beer is also my favorite type of beer.

Widmer Hefeweizen, It's brewed in Portland, Ore. but can be found throughout the US.

It's the only one I can think of currently that hasn't been listed already, I'll post more later if I think of some.

Oooh yes, wheat beer. In the summer I'd pick wheat beer over your basic lager any day of the week. I think I've tasted most of the biggest German brands. Paulaner, Weihenstephaner, Ayinger, Franziskaner...at least. All are fantastic. While German wheat beer is really good, I also like witbier (wheat ale), such as Hoegaarden from Belgium.

people thank you for the suggestions.

I have tried Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and Widmer Hefeweizen. I did not like the Widmer at all because it tasted like a "regular" beer to me. It also seems to give a hangover whereas my favorite, Boulevard, does not do.

The Cherry Wheat was good and at 5.2% it does pack a punch without being a "struggle" to drink. I will probably get it again in the future.

I have really wanted to try the Weihenstephaner but I cannot get it in my state. I will probably get some on the internets some day. It truly seems like it must be the best beer in the world because so many people list it in their favorite beers.
