My brother introduced me to a band called "Freakeys" yesterday. It's an instrumental progressive solo project lead by a talented keyboardist who does all the songwriting and constantly smothers you with melodic keyboard shredding. The rest of the band does an exceptional job as well backing up the lead keyboard lines.

My friend is just a little obsessed with him. He's quite good.

Most recently I have been discovering new bands on www.last.fm in the post-rock scene. Stuff like 'Faraquet' and 'The For Carnation'. I love some of the clean/rich tones that these bands use along with melodies that keep me listening and getting lost further and further in their songs (instumental or otherwise.) I find them somewhat uplifting along with bands like Don Caballero and Polvo who use similar style.

In a nutshell, I've basically just been into anything that gives me good vibes lately.

it's not competely new to me - but I bought one of Be Your Own Pet 's cd's the other day and it rocks!!
There's no one particular band I've discovered lately... I always find a few every week that I like and I add them to my myspace and have a list of the ones I like. I know I woulden't be able to remember them all otherwise

oh - The Material is a really good band... and so is East Hundred.

been listening to a lot of buck 65 lately.

also..
no age - i'd describe them as noise rock/noise pop. fun stuff. i saw them live on friday and i have a couple bruises on my feet from getting crushed very briefly, yum.
others:
the microphones (lo-fi folk, specifically the glow part 2),
the gories (garage rock),
nadja (drone/doom/shoegaze, heavy fuzz that engulfs you as you listen but i find pretty at the same time),
abner jay (really good blues, mostly recorded in 50s-60s i believe, anyone who likes that genre should hear him)

umm i'm listening to stars of the lid for the first time right now and i just downloaded a bunch of ambient/minimal/electronica then i'll get around to hearing soon
