Everytime I go to the airport I get pulled up and swabbed for explosives. They say it's totally random but I got a funny feeling about it. I think they lookout for people who look nervous which I guess social anxiety does. I even had 20 milligrams of valium in me when I went and felt calm which surprised me that I still appeared nervous.

That sucks. Though if your anxiety builds up and is physically noticeable in an airport it's not really a surprise. They're just doing their jobs well.

lol! :)

Yes the same thing happens to me. I always get pulled out of the line to have my things searched and to be patted down. I think it's either because I'm your generic white girl and they're making sure they don't look like they're ethnic profiling, or just because I look so uncomfortable and self conscious like I'm hiding something :p

You do not need to feel bad about this one; what is involved here is the paranoia and anxieties of The Powers That Be.

Maybe you should shave, take of your turban, and instead of carrying in your hand, but your koran into your back-pack. :D

Joke aside I actually had a different impression, I only got searched once (at customs) when I deliberate looked the guy in the eyes as an experiment. Never do that! basically learned it in school, never look at the teacher and you want get picked, mostly.

Of course having a "SA attack" while going through security check is not ideal and can be confused easily if you think about it rationally. Just one of many thing that suck about SA.

It is just part of the deal of flying....I fly regularly and am used to it. Get to the airport early, know what you can and cannot take on the plane, be prepared by knowing the search protocols, and if you are the "random" pick just let them do what they have to do. The TSA people are just low level employees doing their job. Beats the hell out of driving.

I fly quite a bit. I'm also middle-eastern and have facial hair.

I've had to do the "random" screening every single time I go to the airport. Thus, I have little sympathy.

This may be TMI and OT, but...

I haven't been searched (yet), but while leaving CA back in 2010, I had visited a sex shop with my friends and we bought a dil*o to take pictures with (wtf for, idk). Since they're both lesbians and didn't really want to keep a fake p*nis around, I packed it up rather than just chucking it.

So I was at the scanner getting my bag checked and I had gone through the body scanner when the attendant stopped the belt my bag was on. He kept sending it back and forth to get a closer look. My stomach rose to my throat and I was thinking, "OMG, they're gonna take out a sex toy thinking it's a gun in front of everyone" (because it had a scrotum, too; I guess that looked like the handle/trigger?).

So the attendant called another guy over to look at the screen. They looked at me slowly, then back at the screen, then at me once more. By the grace of SOMETHING, they let it pass and I let out a big sigh of relief and was on my way.

Never again!

This reminds me of back in primary school. I was telling my friend I had a machete in my bag as a joke and someone heard and apparantly told the teacher. When I got back to class after recess I was asked by the teacher that she wanted to search my bag. I had a porno picture in my bag (porn was difficult to come by at that age (9 years old) back in the day you know) The teacher actually picked up the folded up picture and my heart was racing. She asked me what is that? I told her it was a letter lol. She was polite enough to decide not to read it. What a relief at the time. Thinking about this now I probably would have just got a detention lol. No big deal.
