Is there anything you'd call your dream job?

A have a friend who went out with a machinist and when I looked at the description of it sounds like a job I would love. Regimented tasks, building parts and supplies, and feeling I'm using my hands. Problem is I'm not very handy so I know I could never do that job.

I would say a sports rec coach I'd like as well for kids. Only problem is with SA I know I wouldn't be all that good at either. Then there's a matter of you'd have to be like really good at it to make a salary on it. Leagues I think are still mainly volunteer workers or if they get paid I'm thinking its pretty minimal

No. If I have to do it, I don't want to.

No, I am no longer of the notion that there is an ideal "dream" job out there for me. Even in work at home scenarios, there is that always present aura of having to work that is off-putting and not appealing.

The only way I'll be satisfied in life is if I win the lotto. I have no ideations of grandiose and excessive expenditures. I just want enough money to be left alone and not have to do anything for anyone else and only partake in society if I ever wanted to.

More or less what I am doing right now, I am my own boss, I work when I want to, there is very little social interaction, and if I wanted to I could take a vacation in another state and still work if I wanted extra money. The downside is that the pay is often below minimum wage, it requires use of a car, and traffic.

A dream job as the such is one that offers the most flexibility, the least socializing, and no inherent heirachy. Better pay would be a bonus, but the trade off in my opinion is worth it.

The older I get the more I have realized that the old saying "The grass is not always greener on the the other side" is true for almost everything in life.
Therefore what I used to think my dream job would be, is most likely not at all what my mind assumes it would be like.
I do wish my SA was not so severe that it stopped me from being able to survive the training so I could have tried it though.

I wouldn’t mind working in a zoo. Feeding animals, cleaning their sleeping area etc
But it impossible to get such a job

Do you earn something while volunteering? Probably not, what do you do if I may ask?

Volunteer jobs are not paid at all, and I my main gig is being a warehouse volunteer at a local thrift store. Don't need to deal with people much at all.

Right now I'd quite like to be Sam Chui.

Pretty sure it is running my own business. Only way as I can't deal with social conventions, and being around people and their collective madness.

That, or no job. I'm not sure which is better.

If I had a lot of money I'd set up a really nice rare book store in the middle of the city that I could just pop into occasionally. I wouldn't want to be there all the time though -just sometimes to answer questions or sell particularly expensive items.
I'm not sure any job would be a dream job for me. The dream for me would be no job.

With that said I actually like my current job way more than any job I've ever had, but wish it had better work/life balance. If they offered a 3 day or even a 4 day workweek I'd probably be pretty content here for the long term.
I sense I would get a lot of satisfaction out of helping others like being a therapist/social worker. Although this is true, I know it wouldn't be wise for me to take on that career path because I'm a very emotional and empathic person so I feel like it would be emotionally draining and take a toll on my mental health. Because of this, I volunteer every once in a while at a homeless resource center and get a lot of pleasure out of that without it being too emotionally taxing. It can be upsetting sometimes to see the circumstances some people are living in, but I try to be a positive light in the small encounter I have with them.
-Something remote where there's not constant social interaction (so no customer service!)
-Something where I'm working one on one with people such as therapy, which I do plan to pursue later on in life (in my 50s or so.)
-Being an independent contractor/owning a business, which I also plan to pursue after I complete my licensing exams in the next year or 2.
-Working locally as a wildlife rescue/rehabber, which I also plan to pursue once I own a home with land on it.
