Title.

Basically, can I build up confidence in myself by being awesome at something, and feeling like a more self-confident, powerful person. Or, do I have to separately develop confidence in each skill, separately develop confidence in talking to other people?

Hope I made sense

Partly, in my opinion.

If you're confident about your ability to play a sport well, for example, it will give your self-esteem a boost and help you feel confident in other areas. It won't be 100 percent "transferable", though.

Probably, it may depend on the person. In my experience, when I've had a great day or achieved something that I felt improved my overall self, I found it easier to interact with other people. It's as if I was too distracted by my sudden confidence to even pay attention to my anxiety.
