Hey all,

Have been dating this woman who is six years older than me, she is the first girl I've ever asked out(I'm 23), and I suffer from social anxiety, depression, and a bunch of other things, lol.

Anyway, she has invited me to go to this wedding reception of a wedding that she is a bridesmaid to. I getting real stressed out and worked up over these things:

  • I don't know anyone there except for my date, and her housemate.
  • Everyone there will be at least 6 years older than me, and I have a bit of a baby face. (My date doesn't look anywhere near her age, it was one of the biggest shocks when I learned her actual age, but her friends do look their age)
  • I have a lot of anxiety about my appearance, I've lost a lot of weight, but still have some weight issues.
  • My date said that it's very casual and not to stress out about what to wear, just wear black pants, shoes, and a shirt, but I still feel like I'm going to look like ****.
Well, those are my main fears, I'm pretty worried about it all. I really want to go, because I've been invited by a woman who I'm dating, and this would score me some points in any potential relationship, but damn.

My date keeps telling me to stress less, but my mind is going insane.

@$%# everyone else they have no idea of who you are. This is how I get through packed hallways. I just stick my arm out and think of all of this these people as a bunch of sheep... "GET THE [email protected]#4 OUT OF MY WAY, CAUSE I WILL PUSH RIGHT THROUGH YOUR [email protected]#$ING CROWD BLOCKING THE HOLE DAMN HALL!!!!!! GTFO! I'V GOT PLACES TO BE. You need to feel it... not just think it.

You need to change how you think. I know it's easyer said then done. I need to change the way I think but I don't think its going to happen. The way I think is what makes me who I am....

BTW, Nice job on getting an older woman... I am highly Jealous.

Maybe dress to what makes you feel like you look nice. Even if it's casual you can wear nice shoes. Wear a nice dress shirt, preferring sleeves unless it's warm and outdoors, and I'd think you could wear a tie if you want to. Make your face and hair reasonably neat and sharp.

It's totally ordinary for people to end up at gatherings like this that no one else knows. Why? Often because people can be expected to find girlfriends or boyfriends and want to come to do things with them and integrate them with the family. It happens all the time to other people. You figure sometimes it's your turn.

If I were you, I wouldn't go. I don't know. That's just me. Going to someone's wedding who you don't know at all is just weird to me. If you don't feel comfortable with something, say something about it. It's okay if you don't want to go. Your date should be able to understand and if she won't, then it's her loss.
