When I was a child, I didn't care how my hair looked. As I grew older, people started to criticize it and tell me that girls will only like certain styles. Today, I'm afraid of leaving the house with messy hair. I read articles online saying there is nothing wrong with my hair. And yet, there are people who say there is something wrong with it.

In my efforts to detach from this year, I've realized the problem - I believe that there may be an intrinsic good and bad. Perhaps it's not good to walk out of the house with messy hair. Perhaps if I learn to like my hair regardless of how it looks, I will fail at life - survival of the fittest will give the girls to the hot guys, and I'll be alone. Or maybe I'll meet someone who is dumb and doesn't realize my hair is bad. Who would want her?

I need to be shown that there is no intrinsic good and bad in this area. Should I live life thinking my hair is fine however it looks, or should I take the time to get a nice haircut because certain styles are simply bad?

Well, I find a certain scruffiness attractive, emo haircuts awful, and conventional cuts dull. Other people think think the opposite. Just don't get a mullet or a comb-over and you'll be fine ;)

You could have any haircut and there would always be some girls that like it, others that don't, and still others that couldn't care less. Since it's impossible to please everyone, go with what your preference is, or if you don't have one, try to determine (on forums etc) the majority opinion. Then, understanding that you've selected the prudent option for you right now, stop obsessing and second-guessing.
