yep, I imagine this is common among anxiety sufferers. If it bothers you, CBT or some other form of therapy and/or training in being assertive would be helpful. The mind has enormous plasticity, I think it is possible to learn new ways of behavior no matter what one's age or stage in life is. There's an interesting video online on a recent talk on brain plasticity by a famous professor. I can't find it now.
