You shouldn't have lied, what you did was wrong. I suggest you go and tell your teacher that you lied and did cheat on the test, it'll show good character that you finally owned up.
I cheated on an exam
I got caught cheating on an exam last night by another student. It was stupid on my part. I had the opportunity to change a few of my answers so I did. I would have done well on the exam even If I didn't change those answers. The girl was making comments in class that I cheated so I went straight to the professor to address the comments the student was making before she could get to him first. He says he believes me and didn't see me cheating. This just sucks, I feel so guilty and embarressed that another student saw me cheating. I am so quiet in class and hate starting drama. What should I do? It was a mistake and I saw the opportunity to change some answers so I did. I'm emebarressed to go to class because of this student and whoever she told I was cheating. What should I do with this situation? Just go to class and learn from this and move on? I am stressing out about this, please help. Should I be worried that she is going to tell the teacher?? I can't concentrate on anything and am so worried and am obsessing over this. Please help.

So, what's the problem? To me it sounds like you've got nothing to worry about. I doubt that the other student really intends to tell professor on you.He says he believes me and didn't see me cheating.
And an "F" on the test. Seriously what's the point? What's done is done, the op just have to make sure not to do this again.it'll show good character that you finally owned up.
You should be more worried about that fact that you cheated in the first place, and then flat out lied to a prof to cover it up. That's a little more distressing, in my opinion.This just sucks, I feel so guilty and embarressed that another student saw me cheating.
What do to about this situation? Don't do this again. Your obsession over it will probably fade with time. Either that or with coming clean, but I doubt you'd do that. If what really bothers you is another student finding out, make that your incentive for not doing something so dishonest again.
If I was on your position I'd just keep quiet. Have you hurt anyone by cheating? No, so why worry? Sure, it was dishonest, but not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Like you say, learn from it and move on.
I'd keep quiet too. Coming clean is pointless. If your professor believes you then there's nothing to worry about. You don't have much to feel guilty about really, considering you would have done well anyway. Just go to class, get on with your work, and everything will move on.

Cheating on an exam isn't a HUGE offense. It's not good, and hopefully you learned a lesson and never do it again, but I don't think the F is worth it in this case.

i think the other student should mind their own business, many people cheat and it's not the end of the world, if you didn't know anything at all then you would have failed even if you did cheat. do not admit it now, the proff. believes you and if the other student starts **** (which i doubt) then you make an excuse and deny it. no one will think of this anymore so try not to concentrate on it.

I cheated on a stats final once, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Had I not, I probably would have failed and possibly failed the entire course. Should I be out a few thousand dollars because I couldn't pass one exam? I think not.
I'd just learn from this and move on. As long as you don't plan to do this for every exam (and I'm sure you don't), I don't see the big deal.

I've never cheated. Don't tell the prof, even though you feel guilty about it. Just don't cheat again. I can't imagine being successful in a job knowing that I cheated (even the littlest bit).
as long as you know what you did was wrong, i think the best thing to do is to just not do it again. the only reason to confess would be if it was a practical exam on like open heart surgery or something. the only person you could possibly hurt on any normal test is yourself.

The other student has a right to be upset. They put in the effort to study for the exam. Why should someone else benefit from their hard work and they get nothing in return for it? To say that cheating doesn't harm anybody is not true.
I concur with what the other posters have said, though. You've learned your lesson. Keep your mouth shut and don't do it again.

Yeah, don't do it again and you should be ok.
I don't think you should admit to it... why take the chance of being failed for the course because of one error in judgment.. I think the whole drama and anxiety is enough to make sure that you don't do it again...
