Im geting an application today for a job making 10$ an hour typing orders and records and stuff...how long does it usually take them to call me? Im ready to go ahead and jump in ASAP and get it over with so I can start adjusting to it,and I have ridiculous amounts of free time that I need to get rid of so thats also a plus....and money is sort of nice to have to :)

A sickening thought - and by personal experience, it's true, even if you are nice enough to send a thank-you letter.

It depends on the "paperwork" the company goes through. There are steps that are taken to make sure the manager can even hire someone, and these days, they are extremely busy - recessions do that.

My advice would be to hang in there and do not be surprised by anything that happens - except the moment you get the job! :yes

As millenniumman mentioned, I would recommend sending a 'thank you' letter.

BTW, if I have an interview for a promotion at work, should I send a 'thank you' letter even though it is an internal job application?
