If this is through an insurance company, they will have a list of Doctors in your area that accepts your insurance.It's up to you to contact the Dr's office and see if they are accepting new patients. Set up an appointment for a checkup. You will need to notify your insurance company that this Dr will be you Primary Care Physician. The first appointment there will be a lot of paperwork to fill out.
If you don't have insurance, the process is pretty much the same. You just leave out the parts dealing with insurance.
The Dr's office will expect payment in full or any insurance Co-pays at the office visit.
