Holy crap I was just gonna make a thread about hip hop. I'm borderline obsessed with hip hop. I mean REAL hip hop. For some reason I'm in love with mid 90s east coast rap in particular. This is back when rap was more like poetry than horrible club music like today. Nas, Biggie, Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang, AZ, OLD Jay-z are all my favorites. I can't get enough of classic joints like Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, Doe or Die, 36 Chambers, man I can go on and on.

Oh man Pete Rock and CL Smooth - "They reminisce over you", great song.

Very few young rappers have carried on the tradition of great lyricism. Lupe is the only young rapper I see today that has real skills.

Actually theres still alot of great hip hop but it's not mainstream and you have to search it out.
I agree. You have to dig for the good stuff. Some of my current favourite artists are Statik Selektah (I highly highly highly recommend his new album "Stick to the Script", and his one before that), Saigon, Skyzoo, Black Milk, Termanology, Army of the Pharaohs, Jon Hope, Murs, Masta Ace, EMC.
