This life is like a dream
am I awake or asleep?
I can never tell the difference
in each day of the week
like I'm walking down the street
and the colors are dead
There's no place I've gotta be
but I'm always on edge
I pledged allegiance to avoidance
but it killed me instead
Not in the outer world
but this world in my head
I faked a song of freedom
I knew its demise
Held captive by my thoughts
and the look in their eyes
Half way is where we meet em
in our suits and our ties
Hide behind our masks and our lucid disguise
We're not up to the task
but the noose is our size
Hang ourselves between cracks
of the truth and the lies

Wow this poem is great! I enjoyed the rhyming scheme, its almost like a rap. This poem could be interpreted as a person suffering from SA, but could describe how many people in today's society feel disconnected and alone even when their surrounding by people. Also how many of us use masks and dare I say avatars to hide our true self from the rest of the world. :)
