I often go on SAS in my lunch breaks at work... i could be socialising with my coworkers but i just want to see whats happening on SAS

also a weekend spent indoors on my laptop with SAS being one of the main websites i go on, seems much more attractive then trying to make friends through meetup.com

so in some ways SAS is kind of hindering my progress, but i do like it alot here.

In my case I think it helps a lot. I have one major problem and that is striking up conversation. I can never bring myself to do it both online and in real life. I never talk to anyone unless if it is like this or they start a conversation first. I just don't know how to do it and the thought makes me more than uncomfortable and nervous. I figure if I can bring myself to do it online some day I'll be able to go further. I have to start somewhere. :)

It's what I've been doing lately. I go on SAS at school, on breaks at work, and at home. I don't really have friends anymore because I couldn't handle it and I pushed them all away.

I have no opportunities to do anything at all in life anyway other than come on here in my little spurts of downtime to wile away my time.

Yeah, it's way easier to just avoid social interaction and just lurk on the SAS forums. However, I don't really gain anything from it, as I never have much to say.

I do this with different online forums or I text people or use my dating profile,or play with one of my friends on pc games.i don't want to get invited out usually because I don't really care to waste my time engaging in small talk about topics I likely cant relate to or don't care about.

Oh god, I hope I don't end up substituting this site for living my real life. Is this a common problem for people who've been here a long time?

Well I've been part of this site for a while, at first I use to never go to it that often, but recently I've been going here daily, so I would say it could become a problem, but it's not that bad, I don't think its addicting quite like facebook could be or something along the lines.
