It sounds to me that you are in a point in your life that you have the time to focus a lot of effort on getting better. It also sounds like you are completely committed by being ready, willing and able to do what it takes. My recommendation is to see a cognitive-behavioral therapist who specializes in anxiety issues and has an expertise in treating SAD. CBT has by far the most backing from the scientific community as an effective therapy for treating SAD. In addition, therapy is quick (generally 10-20 sessions). There will be exposure involved which requires you to get out there and face situations that you find fearful but will give you the tools to be able to cope with the fear.
