I've done quite a few things to combat anxiety and depression since I saw my Dr a fortnight ago signed off work with depression. It is amazing what it threw back at me [see below], this is not easy. I feel really drowsy and I'm coming off tablets and keep waking up with a feeling of dread, especially before the horseriding [below]. My Dr is encouraging me to get out and take manageable steps e.g. go out but sit quietly in corner, take exercise.

I went to a spinning class at the gym (was worried everyone would be much fitter and I'd give up part way through, turns out you set your own resistance/difficulty and the instructor was lovely before the class and told me about how to do it for 20 mins)

I went horseriding for the first time in 2 years (felt exhausting as realised all the million things I had to concentrate on and all my old faults came back such as tipping forward. I did actually chicken out talking about new classes with the instructor and the owner cornered me in the car park while I was trying to make an escape. I do feel I could phone up this weekend after a slight hiccup, was thrown by my pet dying an hour or so before the lesson).

I saw a friend, drove to a totally new place, went shopping, went really well. She then told me she was about to be treated for an eating disorder which was a big shock and took the edge off having managed to socialise.

I went jogging in the park for the first time ever, which did involve jogging past people and at one place there were 50 kids and parents in small groups playing football. Proud I'm fit enough to even consider this as never been sporty (did 3 blocks of 6 mins with rests). Also I did spinning Wed, riding Thu and this today so must be a lot fitter as even a few weeks ago I wouldn't have done this, partly through worry I'd be exhausted part way through and unable to get home.

I've applied for 3 jobs and part way through another application. Not done much of this for months as so scared of interview and get feedback about confidence with people. Started declaring a health condition so that may help a bit.

Congrats shychick2! You're doing a great job getting yourself out there. :) Keep up the great work and good luck with the job search!

Horseriding sounds fun. I've never tried it. I've never heard of spinning. Is it a kind of dance?

Spinning is a group exercise class where you have special exercise bikes and change the resistance and either sit or stand to routines the instructor sets and there was dance music and disco lights.

I've booked a dentist appointment and a riding lesson that is with 2 other people.
