What is the difference between being friendly and flirty. I was lookin at a

segment on taming the serial flirter and got thinking what is the difference and
what is flirting and how is it different to just being friendly?

Can't the two be confused as the same?

I'd say flirting has to have sexual undertones.

Yeah, I suppose. It's not black and white. More like a spectrum. There's probably some overlap between being very friendly and being mildly flirty, but I think the difference is usually pretty apparent.

Flirting is a way to "test the waters". Its like dipping your toe in the swimming pool to see if the water is cold. One makes a comment with, as Kyle said, "sexual undertones". Depending on the temperature, one can then decide to either dive in or to scurry back to the deck chair and wrap a towel around oneself.

It's a very gray area. Some people are oblivious to flirting while others misconstrue a friendly gesture as an invitation to jump in the sack. There are an infinite number of degrees in between.
