The flash chat eats up too much cpu cycles and basically hogs the cpu. Either optimize the code for it or go back to the older chat.

Flash does use up a lot of the cpu. The biggest reason is that the interaction between flash player and the browser adds a lot of overhead. Some browsers will handle Flash better, use up less of the cpu. Its worth trying the chat room with different browsers and see if that makes a difference. It also helps to have the latest version of the Flash Player installed, I think they are up to version 10.
