I feel like I have some conservativeness in me.. and I hate it. I hate it cause I see my family being all conservative and it seems like a total turn off to me.

I'm not talking politics, I mean conservative in personality.. like very proper, avoiding conflict and drama, always looking on the "bright side".. amongst other things..

Whereas everyone I see around me are just the opposite. Yet for some reason they feel happier. It feels like conservatism is a cop out. Like it's for people who can't handle being free and loose, so they become constrained and uptight. My family's not uptight, but most conservatives are especially the political ones.

I voted Obama and consider myself totally liberal but I can't help but feel I'm swimming upstream. My natural tendencies personality wise are pretty conservative. I just don't believe in conservative ideology. But I feel like the odd man out when surrounded by liberal folks. I'm not sure if this is why I become so anxious.. but I think it's somehow connected. Does anyone else feel this way?

I feel I'm often socially conservative when out but at home I'm more socially liberal. It depends but I understand what you are getting at. AS with most thing it's about balance, sometimes people want to let loose a bit so being overly conservative in those types of situations may become a sort of downer. No advice on reaching that balance though, trial & error I guess

"Proper, avoiding conflict, looking on the bright side" These sound like good traits. It's certainly nothing to be ashamed of
