Okay, I know this is a weird question. Having SA I've always felt way more empathetic toward everything around me, I'm sure that's very common/I've read it is common. But I have started thinking about psychics lately because of someone I met recently. And now it's kind of got me a little curious if anyone else out there with SA ever feels like their ability to relate with others' inner feelings might be something like psychic empathy? I realize this sounds ridiculous to a lot of people, but what does anyone think?

ill tell ya a story. i know someone who i wouldnt consider a friend but more like a family friend his parents are casual friends with my parents and thats how we know each other. i see this guy like 1-2 times per year. awhile back he needed a place to stay for a weekend so i let him stay with me. we pretty much just watched movies and played video games all weekend long. when we were picking out which movie or game to watch or play next he always got a little weird when it came to a movie or game that had a horror/alot of images of death kinda theme.

this guy has no problem with violence or anything like that so that wasnt the issue. i realised intuitively out of nowhere without us talking about anything that he doesnt like seeing that kinda **** because years ago his mother had died of cancer she basically went to the hospital right before she died for whatever reason she just wanted to be at home while she was dying so he got to watch her wither away.

ive never talked to the guy about his mother and hes never brought it up with me. i hardly know the guy. when we do talk its about everyday bull**** so its kind of disturbing for me to have these thoughts of why he doesnt like death images going on in the back of my mind while were sitting there playing some co-op games and talking about women or something typical like that.

i dont think its psychic ability. i think its just reading body language/imagination/empathy/ understanding your own mind/psychology and maybe knowing something that emotionally traumatized that person? who knows.

Funny I was thinking about this recently. I got a message off my sister the other day saying how she'd had the worst night and never been so hurt I called her and she told me what'd happened and I felt like it was me it'd happened to I felt sick for her and I felt like I wanted to cry and I felt angry for her. I know it's normal to care about your family like that just I felt as if it was actually me who was dealing with it it felt that personal. When my bf told me something really awful that'd happened to him I feel like I felt it from his perspective as well as mine like I was feeling what he was feeling and what he'd felt and also dealing with my response to it.... I don't know if it's maybe being more in touch with your emotions and more sensetive to others.

I believe in empathy, (or I might just be very perceptive?). I feel like I can read a lot of people's emotions even when they aren't apparent. It happens a lot online. I've also met people (online and offline) that have put me on a tremendous high, though it is not obvious to them or the people I am with at times.

Yes i've made posts about this before and I came to the realisation that having empathy does not mean you automatically have more sympathy or compassion. You still have to work at walking in other peoples shoes, it's just a little easier to do when you understand how they feel.

I also get "empathy" off books, movies, paintings, scenery, etc.

Sometimes it's annoying being so sensitive I wish I could turn it off.

Don't think it has anything to do with spirituality or psychics and whatnot though. It's more just a personality trait. If you'd like to learn more about psychics read about houdini or as smarmy as the man is James Randi.

I am empathic too, but I don't think its psychic. I think there are basically 2 types of people, empaths and psychopaths (to one degree or another) and most of the world's big problems are caused by psychopaths. Probably the small problems too.

Yeah, I also think it's a bit of a personality type as well. I still find reading about psychic phenomenon and empathic abilities fascinating though ;) I don't believe there is anything in existence that is supernatural, I just think science is in the dark about a lot of stuff still. That's just me though. I think there are people studying empathy who have their own psychology system worked out and it's really interesting.

I really like this approach: http://mysilentecho.com/ if anyone's interested in the subject.

It does sucki being sensitive on certain levels.
