I'm really interested in counseling psychology. Can someone with mental disorder(s) be an objective mental health professional? The thought of me being a therapist kind of sounds like the blind leading the blind!

Plenty of mental health professionals have mental disorders, so it's certainly not impossible. I know a clinical psychologist with Social Anxiety Disorder. In fact, he once treated another clinical psychologist for Major Depressive Disorder.

I have thought seriously of this, but honestly I get V frustrated if people are resistant to trying new things, thinking differently etc. So I've thought about just becoming "a listener". Someone who doesn't offer a path of treatment but just listens. Without interrupting, or saying stupid things like "you should" or "if I were you" etc. Or another idea is to offer to do things with someone, things that scare them but they've always wanted to try. Then, turn that into a TLC series and get PAID.
